Description

Anguloa uniflora

Name: Anguloa uniflora Ruiz & Pav.

Etymology: The genus name Anguloa honors Francisco de Angulo; uniflora means "one-flowered".

Origin/Distribution: The species originates from the Andes of South America.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate Anguloa uniflora in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 12–24 °C, with bright filtered light, high humidity, and good air circulation. During periods of vigorous growth, we water and fertilize regularly.

Description and Notes: This terrestrial orchid forms robust pseudobulbs, large pleated leaves, and fleshy, tulip-like closed flowers. After the natural leaf drop, we significantly reduce watering, but do not allow the pseudobulbs to shrivel excessively.
