Name: Angraecum Lai’s Star
Parents: Angraecum Lemförde White Beauty × Angraecum sesquipedale
Registration: Registered by Winning Orchids with the Royal Horticultural Society in 2020.
Etymology: The genus name Angraecum originates from a Malay term for epiphytic orchids. "Lai’s Star" is the grex name and refers to the star-shaped appearance of the flowers.
Location/Cultural conditions: We recommend warm to intermediate conditions of approximately 18–28 °C, bright filtered light, high humidity, and excellent air circulation. Water a coarse, airy orchid substrate thoroughly and allow it to dry out slightly afterwards. The vigorous roots are sensitive to permanently wet substrate and unnecessary disturbance, so repotting should only be done when necessary.
Description and notes: Angraecum Lai’s Star combines the elegant white flower character of Angraecum Lemförde White Beauty with the distinctive influence of A. sesquipedale. You can expect strong, leathery leaves as well as large, white, star-shaped flowers with a pronounced spur, which may be particularly fragrant in the evening. Bright cultivation supports vigorous growth and reliable flowering.
