Name: Porroglossum apoloae Luer & Sijm
Etymology: The epithet apoloae honors Carmen Apolo, an Ecuadorian orchid grower and discoverer of the species. The genus name Porroglossum refers to the characteristic structure of the lip.
First description: The species was described in 2011 by Carlyle A. Luer and Theo Sijm.
Origin / Habitat: Ecuador. The species is known only from imprecise locality data and is described as a small, presumably epiphytic plant from cool montane and cloud forests.
Description & Cultivation: Miniature orchid with a dense, tufted growth habit, narrow leathery leaves, and slender, upright inflorescences. The flowers appear sequentially and have long, pointed sepals. We cultivate it in shade to bright indirect light, with high humidity, good air circulation, and consistent moisture. We keep it cool to temperate, at approximately 14–22 °C.
