Name: Phragmipedium Vittabess
Parents: Phragmipedium vittatum × Phragmipedium besseae
Registration: Registered in 2000 by R. van Rooyen with the Royal Horticultural Society; T. Kalina is listed as the breeder.
Location/Growing conditions: This primary hybrid combines the moisture-loving qualities of both parents. Intermediate temperatures of approximately 15–25 °C, bright filtered light, 60–80% humidity, and good air circulation are suitable. The airy, moisture-retentive medium is kept evenly moist.
Description and notes: Phragmipedium Vittabess can produce upright inflorescences with sequentially opening slipper flowers. Elongated petals and warm red, pink, and brown tones are expected; seedlings may vary in form and color intensity. We use low-calcium water and avoid both waterlogging in the crown and a pronounced dry rest.
