Name: Phragmipedium Peruflora's Saltimbanco
Parents: Phragmipedium czerwiakowianum × Phragmipedium kovachii
Registration: Grex registered in the RHS International Orchid Register; registered by Peruflora in 2007 and produced by Peruflora.
Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium is composed of Greek word elements meaning "partition" and "shoe". The grex name Peruflora's Saltimbanco was chosen by the breeder Peruflora; "Saltimbanco" refers to an acrobat or juggler in the Romance-speaking world.
Location/Cultivation Conditions: We recommend bright, filtered light, high humidity, and good air circulation. Intermediate conditions of approximately 15–26 °C during the day and 11–18 °C at night are favorable. The substrate should be airy and structurally stable while retaining moisture evenly.
Description and Notes: This primary hybrid combines the elegant flower shape of P. czerwiakowianum with the exceptionally large, vibrant pink to magenta flowers of P. kovachii. The flowers can be large, rounded, and very substantial; however, seedlings vary individually. We keep the root zone evenly moist, use as soft water as possible, and fertilize regularly at a low concentration during active growth.
