Name: Phragmipedium Munekazu Ejiri
Etymology:
The grex name Munekazu Ejiri was named after the Japanese orchid grower and orchid expert Munekazu Ejiri.
First description:
Phragmipedium Munekazu Ejiri was registered in 2023 as a cross between Phragmipedium kovachii × Phragmipedium Acker’s Beauty.
Origin / Distribution:
It is a cultivated hybrid and therefore has no natural distribution area.
Location / Habitat:
The plants involved in the cross come from moist regions of South America. We cultivate the hybrid at high humidity, with good air movement and a constantly slightly moist root zone.
Description & Notes:
Phragmipedium Munekazu Ejiri develops vigorous shoots with long, narrow leaves and striking flowers. The flowers show strong dark red to burgundy areas, while the characteristic slipper-shaped lip can be distinctly lighter pink.
We cultivate it at moderate temperatures, approximately 18–24 °C during the day and 13–18 °C at night. The substrate should never dry out completely, but at the same time be well-draining. Bright, filtered light and good air movement promote healthy growth.
