Phragmipedium Rio Mira

Name: Phragmipedium Rio Mira

Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium derives from the Greek phragma (“division, partition”) and pedion (“shoe”), referring to the segmented structure of the flower. “Río Mira” is the registered grex name and refers to the Río Mira River.

Registration: Registered as a hybrid by Ecuagenera in 2019.

Origin / Breeding: Cultivated hybrid of Phragmipedium hirtzii × Phragmipedium longifolium.

Description & Notes: A hybrid of two species with long, vigorous growth and good adaptability to consistently moist growing conditions. We grow it in bright to semi-shaded conditions and provide a steady supply of water. The substrate should never dry out completely, while excess water should be able to drain away well. We grow it at moderate to warm temperatures.
