Description

Phragmipedium Ingrid Portilla

Name: Phragmipedium Ingrid Portilla

Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium is derived from the Greek phragma (“division, partition”) and pedion (“shoe”), referring to the segmented structure of the flower. “Ingrid Portilla” is the registered grex name.

Registration: Registered as a hybrid in 2015 by Ecuagenera.

Origin / Breeding: Primary hybrid of Phragmipedium kovachii × Phragmipedium warszewiczianum.

Description & Notes: A vigorous primary hybrid combining the large-flowered influence of P. kovachii with the characteristic growth habit of P. warszewiczianum. We grow it in bright to partially shaded conditions, away from strong midday sun, and keep it evenly moist. The potting mix should never dry out completely, while remaining airy. We grow it at cool to moderate temperatures.
