Name: Philodendron spiritus-sancti G.S.Bunting
Etymology: The specific epithet spiritus-sancti means “Holy Spirit” and refers to the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo.
First description: 1978 by George S. Bunting.
Origin/Distribution: Espírito Santo, Brazil.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic to hemiepiphytic in warm, humid lowland forests. We recommend temperatures of around 20–29 °C, high humidity, very good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: This rare species develops a short climbing stem and very long, narrow, drooping leaves with a distinctly sunken midrib. The M-sized plant on offer is already beginning to show its characteristic growth habit. A tall, sturdy climbing support and coarse, airy aroid substrate encourage root development. Keep evenly slightly moist, but avoid waterlogging and cold drafts.
