Name: Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum (Schott ex Endl.) Sakur., Calazans & Mayo ‘Golden’
Synonym: Philodendron selloum K.Koch
Etymology: The specific epithet bipinnatifidum describes the deeply and multiply lobed leaves. ‘Golden’ refers to the yellow-green foliage colour of this cultivar.
Origin/Distribution: The species is native to southeastern South America; ‘Golden’ is a horticultural selection.
Location/Habitat: We recommend warm conditions of approximately 18–29 °C, bright indirect light, moderate to high humidity and good air circulation. The robust plant requires sufficient space as it grows larger.
Description and Notes: This self-supporting cultivar develops large, deeply incised leaves in a bright yellow-green colour. As it ages, a sturdy stem marked with leaf scars develops. Keep a humus-rich, coarse and well-drained aroid substrate evenly slightly moist and allow the surface to dry out between waterings. Plenty of filtered light maintains the golden colour.
