Name: Philodendron nangaritense Croat
Etymology: The specific epithet nangaritense refers to the Nangaritza River region in southern Ecuador.
First described: 2021 by Thomas B. Croat.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: The species is known from the Cordillera del Cóndor and the Nangaritza River catchment area at an altitude of approximately 1,200 m. We recommend temperate to warm conditions of approximately 18–27 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: Philodendron nangaritense is a climbing aroid with sturdy petioles and large, heart-shaped leaves. A support structure helps the plant develop larger, mature leaves. A coarse, slightly moisture-retentive aroid potting mix is suitable. Keep evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging and cold drafts.
