Name: Philodendron maximum K.Krause
Etymology: The genus name is derived from the Greek words "phílos" (friend) and "déndron" (tree). The specific epithet maximum means "very large" and refers to the impressive dimensions of the leaves.
First description: 1913 by Kurt Krause.
Origin/Distribution: Tropical South America, including Ecuador, Bolivia, and Brazil.
Location/Habitat: Climbing in warm, humid tropical forests, sometimes in the old leaf bases of large palms. Suitable conditions are approximately 20–29 °C, high humidity, bright filtered light, and a sturdy climbing support.
Description and notes: Philodendron maximum develops very large, robust leaves with clearly prominent venation. We recommend a coarse, airy aroid substrate, consistent light moisture, and plenty of space. Waterlogging and cold drafts should be avoided.
