Name: Philodendron bipennifolium Schott âGolden Violinâ
Synonym: Philodendron wayombense A.M.E.Jonker & Jonker
Etymology: The specific epithet bipennifolium refers to the mature leaf shape, which resembles a double-bitted axe. âGolden Violinâ describes the yellow-green coloration and violin-like silhouette.
Origin/Distribution: The species is native to tropical South America; âGolden Violinâ is a yellow-blue cultivar.
Location/Habitat: Hemiepiphytic in warm, humid tropical forests. We recommend approximately 20â29 °C, bright indirect light, medium to high humidity, and a sturdy support for climbing.
Description and Notes: As it matures, this climbing philodendron develops distinctly lobed, violin- to axe-shaped leaves in a bright yellow-green. The XS plant offered here initially displays simpler juvenile leaves. Keep a coarse, airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist and allow the surface to dry out slightly between waterings. Plenty of filtered light supports the golden coloration.
