Description

Philodendron balaoanum

Name: Philodendron balaoanum Engl.

Etymology: The epithet balaoanum refers to Balao in Ecuador, the area from which the species was described.

First description: The species was described in 1899 by Adolf Engler.

Origin / Habitat: Ecuador, especially from the area around Balao. It grows climbing in moist tropical forests.

Description & Care: Climbing Philodendron with three-lobed, arrow-shaped leaves. We cultivate it in bright to partial shade, warm to intermediate conditions, with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the substrate evenly moist and well-drained. We keep it at around 18–28 °C.
