Product information "Perlite"

Perlite is a volcanic additive for soil and growing media.

To optimize its water-retention properties, the raw material must be "popped." Perlite is heated suddenly to 900°C, causing the water it contains to evaporate. This process expands the rock by up to 20%.

This makes perlite a valuable additive for gardening and pot cultivation, especially for orchids. The small perlite granules prevent waterlogging. At the same time, perlite absorbs and stores water until the roots need it.

Perlite is pH-neutral and very low in salts.
