Name: Oncidium Andean Clouds
Etymology: The genus name Oncidium derives from the Greek word for “swelling” or “tubercle” and refers to the callus on the lip. The grex name Andean Clouds alludes to the cool, mist-laden highlands of the Andes.
Location/Cultural Conditions: We recommend bright, filtered light, high humidity, and excellent air circulation. The medium should be fine to medium-grade, airy, and slightly moisture-retentive. Keep it evenly and slightly moist during active growth, without allowing water to become stagnant. Cool to intermediate temperatures of around 12–22 °C, with a marked drop at night, are especially favorable.
Description and Notes: Oncidium Andean Clouds is a cool-growing Oncidium hybrid with pseudobulbs, elongated leaves, and upright to arching inflorescences. Its flowers display the striking form and patterning typical of highland-influenced Oncidium hybrids. While new growths are developing, we keep the plant regularly moist; once they have matured, watering can be reduced slightly without letting the pseudobulbs shrivel significantly.
