Name: Monstera standleyana G.S.Bunting ‘Yellow Variegated’
Etymology: standleyana honors the American botanist Paul Carpenter Standley; ‘Yellow Variegated’ describes the yellow variegation of this cultivar.
First described: 1967 by George Sydney Bunting.
Origin/Distribution: The wild species is distributed from Central America to northwestern South America.
Location/Habitat: We grow this form warm at around 19–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist.
Description and Notes: This climbing Monstera develops elongated, leathery leaves with variable yellow to creamy-yellow variegation. Unlike many other Monstera species, the leaves usually remain without pronounced fenestrations. A sturdy support helps larger leaves and vigorous growth.
