Name: Monstera ‘Burle Marx’s Flame’
Etymology: The cultivar name honors the Brazilian landscape architect and plant collector Roberto Burle Marx. “Flame” refers to the flame-like narrow leaf segments of mature plants.
Origin: Introduced into horticulture from Roberto Burle Marx’s collection in Brazil; the original natural habitat is undocumented.
Location/Cultivation Conditions: We recommend warm conditions of approximately 20–29 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. A sturdy support is essential for the development of the mature leaf shape.
Description and Notes: This Monstera, which has not yet been definitively assigned to a botanical species, develops deeply incised leaves with narrow, upward-pointing segments as a mature climbing plant. The offered XS plant initially has simpler juvenile leaves. Keep coarse, airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist and allow the surface to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid direct midday sun.
