Monstera pinnatipartita

Name: Monstera pinnatipartita Schott

Etymology: The specific epithet pinnatipartita means “pinnately divided” and describes the deeply divided leaves of mature plants.

Origin/Distribution: Central America to northwestern South America.

Habitat: Climbing to hemi-epiphytic in moist tropical and montane forests. We grow the species in warm conditions at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. A sturdy climbing support and coarse, airy aroid substrate promote the development of mature leaves.

Description and Notes: Young plants initially have elongated, largely undivided leaves. As they mature, the leaves become larger and increasingly deeply divided, creating their characteristic feathery appearance. We keep the substrate evenly moist.
