Description

Monstera spec. nov. 'Burle Marx's Flame' (11 cm pot)

Name: Monstera ‘Burle Marx’s Flame’

Etymology: The cultivar name honors the Brazilian landscape architect and plant collector Roberto Burle Marx; “Flame” refers to the flame-like appearance of mature leaves.

Location/Growing Conditions: We grow this Monstera in warm conditions at around 20–29°C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, airy aroid potting mix evenly slightly moist and prevent waterlogging.

Description and Notes: ‘Burle Marx’s Flame’ is a highly sought-after cultivar with initially more compact juvenile leaves. As it matures and is given good support to climb, it develops deeply incised, narrow leaf segments that give the plant its characteristic flame-like appearance. A sturdy climbing support and consistent warmth promote the development of mature leaves.
