Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from the Greek lepis ("scale") and anthos ("flower"). The epithet zamorensis refers to the Zamora River in Ecuador.

Origin / Habitat: Ecuador, in moist montane forests at approximately 1400–2000 m. It grows epiphytically and prefers cool conditions.
Description & Care: Miniature orchid with slender, upright shoots, each bearing a single leathery, upright leaf. The densely packed inflorescence appears behind the leaf and bears several flowers sequentially; the flowers measure approximately 5 mm. We cultivate it in shade to bright indirect light, with high humidity, good air circulation, and consistent moisture. We keep it cool, at approximately 12–22 °C.
