Name: Lepanthes inaequisepala
Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek roots meaning "scale" and "flower." The specific epithet inaequisepala roughly translates to "with unequal sepals" and refers to the floral morphology.
Origin/Distribution: Tropical Andean region of South America.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic miniature orchid of humid mountain and cloud forests. We recommend shady to bright filtered light, very high humidity, gentle continuous air circulation, and intermediate temperatures.
Description and Notes: Lepanthes inaequisepala is a compact Pleurothallidinae with slender stems, lepanthiform sheaths, and small, complex flowers. We prefer to cultivate it mounted with a thin layer of sphagnum or in a very fine, airy substrate. The fine roots should remain slightly moist year-round and never dry out completely. Temperatures of approximately 15–24 °C and high humidity are ideal.
