Name: Huperzia phlegmaria (L.) Rothm.
Etymology: The genus name Huperzia honors the German botanist Johann Peter Huperz.
Origin/Distribution: Tropical regions of the Old World, from Africa and the islands of the Indian Ocean through South and Southeast Asia to the western Pacific.
Location/Habitat: An epiphytic clubmoss of humid tropical forests. We recommend bright, filtered light, high humidity, good air circulation, and intermediate to warm conditions.
Description and Notes: Huperzia phlegmaria produces long, elegantly pendent, densely leafy shoots and is particularly well suited to hanging baskets or elevated cultivation. Its roots prefer a very loose, airy, organic substrate. We keep it evenly and slightly moist, while avoiding waterlogging and compacted soil. Temperatures of around 18–28 °C and high humidity encourage vigorous growth.
