Name: Epidendrum stamfordianum
Description & Notes: A striking epiphytic Epidendrum species from Central America with robust pseudobulbs and long, often branched inflorescences that can emerge from the base of new shoots. The numerous yellowish-green to brownish-tinged flowers make older plants particularly impressive. Compared to many high-altitude Andean Epidendrum species, this species prefers warmer and brighter conditions.
Light: Bright to very bright with plenty of filtered light. Mild morning or evening sun is beneficial; avoid intense midday sun.
Temperature: Warm to temperate, ideally around 19–28°C during the day and 14–20°C at night.
Water & Humidity: Water thoroughly and regularly during the growth of new shoots and roots, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings. Water more sparingly once the pseudobulbs have matured, but do not subject the plant to a prolonged dry rest. Humidity of around 55–75% with excellent air circulation is beneficial.
Substrate: Medium-coarse to coarse, highly airy orchid substrate based on bark, with excellent drainage. The roots should be allowed to aerate quickly after watering and should not remain wet for extended periods.
