Name: Epidendrum glossaspis
Description & Notes: An epiphytic Epidendrum species from the Andes with a slender, upright growth habit and inflorescences at the upper part of the stems. It is adapted to moist, airy montane forest conditions and prefers consistent cultivation without a pronounced dry rest period.
Light: Bright to partial shade with plenty of filtered, indirect light. Avoid intense direct midday sun.
Temperature: Cool to moderate, ideally around 15–23 °C during the day and 10–16 °C at night. A significant drop in nighttime temperature and good air circulation are beneficial.
Water & Humidity: Water regularly with water that is as soft as possible and keep the substrate evenly lightly moist. Between waterings, the surface may dry out slightly, but the roots should not be completely dried out for extended periods. An air humidity of around 65–85% with very good air circulation is beneficial.
Substrate: Fine to medium-coarse, very airy orchid substrate on a bark base with some sphagnum. The substrate should retain moisture while ensuring reliable aeration of the roots.
