Description

Dracula trigonopetala

Name: Dracula trigonopetala Gary Mey. & Baquero ex A.Doucette

Etymology: Dracula means "little dragon." The specific epithet trigonopetala refers to the triangular petals.

First description: 2012 by Adam Doucette based on the name by Gary Meyer and Luis Baquero.

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Habitat: From Andean cloud forests in northern Ecuador, at an altitude of approximately 1,800–2,200 m. The species prefers temperatures of about 10–20 °C, high humidity, shady light, and constant air movement.

Description and notes: A small-growing Dracula with single flowers appearing from the sides, facing the viewer. We recommend an open basket and a fine, airy, moisture-retaining substrate. Keep the roots slightly moist at all times, without waterlogging.
