Description

Dracula deltoidea

Name: Dracula deltoidea (Luer) Luer

Synonyms: Masdevallia deltoidea Luer

Etymology: The genus name Dracula means "little dragon"; deltoidea means "deltoid" or "triangular".

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: The species originates from high-altitude humid cloud forests. We cultivate it cool at about 8–20 °C, with very high humidity, filtered light, and continuous air movement. The root system remains consistently slightly moist.

Description and Notes: Dracula deltoidea remains compact and produces relatively short, horizontal inflorescences with single flowers. It prefers permanently cool conditions; we avoid long periods of heat and complete drying out.
