Name: Dendrobium Uzhupud Jewels
Etymology: The genus name Dendrobium is derived from the Greek dendron ("tree") and bios ("life"), referring to its often epiphytic habit. "Uzhupud Jewels" is the registered grex name.
First description: The grex was registered by Ecuagenera with the RHS in 2023.
Origin / Breeding: Dendrobium Uzhupud Jewels is a hybrid of Dendrobium Mingle's Sapphire × Dendrobium cuthbertsonii. Dendrobium Mingle's Sapphire traces back to D. victoriae-reginae × D. ceraula.
Description & Notes: Compact Dendrobium hybrid with significant influence from the small-growing D. cuthbertsonii and intensely colored flowers. We cultivate it in bright to slightly shaded conditions, with high humidity, good air circulation, and consistent moisture. We keep it cool to intermediate, at approximately 12–22 °C.
