Description

Cattleya iricolor xanthina 'Ecuagenera'

Name: Cattleya iricolor ‘Xanthina Ecuagenera’

Designation: Yellowish-colored selection of Cattleya iricolor; not a distinct hybrid grex.

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Ecuador and Peru.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic Cattleya from the humid forests of the Andes. In cultivation, it prefers intermediate temperatures of about 15–26 °C, bright filtered light, high humidity, and good air movement.

Description and Notes: This selection is cultivated for its lighter, yellowish-looking flower color. The species produces slender pseudobulbs and elegant, often pleasantly fragrant flowers. Grow it in coarse, airy bark, water regularly during active growth, and allow it to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting it dry out significantly for extended periods.
