Name: Caladium bicolor (Aiton) Vent. ‘Thai Beauty’
Etymology: The genus name Caladium is derived from a Southeast Asian term for tuberous arums. The specific epithet bicolor means “two-colored.” ‘Thai Beauty’ is the cultivar name of this particularly colorful form.
Origin: The species is native to tropical America; ‘Thai Beauty’ is a cultivated form.
Location/Growing Conditions: During active growth, we grow the plant in warm conditions at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the loose, humus-rich substrate evenly moist.
Description and Notes: ‘Thai Beauty’ produces exceptionally variable leaves in shades of green, white, cream, and pink. Young leaves may initially appear more green and become noticeably lighter and pinker as they mature. As a tuberous plant, the caladium may go dormant seasonally; during this dormant period, we significantly reduce watering.
