Name: Caladium bicolor (Aiton) Vent. ‘Thai Wang Knew’
Etymology: The epithet bicolor means “two-colored” and refers to the contrasting leaf markings of many varieties of this species.
Origin: The species is native to tropical America; ‘Thai Wang Knew’ is a horticultural selection.
Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the plant in warm conditions at approximately 20–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. During active growth, we keep the loose, humus-rich substrate consistently lightly moist. During its seasonal dormant period, watering is reduced considerably.
Description and Notes: ‘Thai Wang Knew’ is cultivated for its decorative, contrastingly colored leaves. Like other caladiums, the plant grows from a tuber and may go dormant seasonally. Bright, diffused light promotes intense leaf markings, while strong, direct midday sun should be avoided.
