Caladium bicolor 'Peach Red Wine' S (11cm pot)

Name: Caladium bicolor, (Aiton) Vent.
Synonyms: > 150 synonyms, as this species is highly variable
Etymology: bicolor = two-colored
Origin: Caribbean, Central and northern South America, very widespread
Habitat: terrestrial, at altitudes from 30 - 2300m.
Notes: The genus Caladium is native to tropical South and Central America. Since the late 18th century, the species Caladium bicolor (angel wings) in particular has been cultivated in Europe and North America. Before the Second World War, more than 1000 varieties were already known. Nowadays, most Caladium bicolor hybrids originate from Asia. They possess tubers as overwintering organs, but can easily be kept growing in warmth throughout the winter.
