Name: Bulbophyllum recurvilabre
Etymology: The genus name Bulbophyllum combines the Greek words bolbos (“bulb”) and phyllon (“leaf”). The Latin epithet recurvilabre means “with a recurved lip” and describes the distinctive labellum.
First description: Leslie A. Garay, 1999.
Origin/Distribution: Philippines.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic in warm, humid tropical forests. The species prefers warm temperatures of approximately 20–29 °C, high humidity, filtered light, and steady air movement.
Description and notes: Bulbophyllum recurvilabre grows creeping and forms small, egg-shaped pseudobulbs, each with a single leathery leaf. The yellowish to reddish flowers grow in clusters and have a conspicuously recurved lip. We grow the plant on cork or in a very airy bark substrate. The fine roots should be kept regularly moist but well ventilated after watering.
