Name: Bulbophyllum longisepalum
Etymology: The genus name Bulbophyllum is derived from the Greek words for "bulb" and "leaf." The specific epithet longisepalum means "with long sepals" and refers to the noticeably elongated sepals.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic orchid of humid tropical forests. We recommend bright, filtered light, high humidity, good air circulation, and warm conditions.
Description and Notes: Bulbophyllum longisepalum forms creeping rhizomes, pseudobulbs, and single leathery leaves. Particularly characteristic are the flowers with their clearly elongated sepals. Shallow baskets, pots, or mounted culture with an airy, slightly moisture-retaining substrate are suitable for cultivation. During growth, we keep the roots evenly slightly moist, without allowing waterlogging to occur. Temperatures of about 20–30 °C, high humidity, and constant air circulation promote healthy growth.
