Name: Bulbophyllum geminatum
Etymology: The genus name Bulbophyllum is composed of the Greek words for "bulb" and "leaf" and refers to the pseudobulbs, which each bear one leaf. The specific epithet geminatum means "paired" or "doubled."
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic orchid of humid tropical forests. We recommend bright, filtered light, high humidity, good air circulation, and warm conditions.
Description and Notes: Bulbophyllum geminatum develops creeping rhizomes with individual pseudobulbs and leathery leaves. We prefer to cultivate this species mounted or in a shallow pot with a fine to medium, very airy, and slightly moisture-retentive orchid substrate. During active growth, we keep the roots consistently slightly moist, but avoid permanently standing water. High humidity and temperatures of about 20–30 °C are well-suited; prolonged complete drying out should be avoided.
