Product Information "Pumice Eifel II"

Pumice or pumice stone
is a porous volcanic rock with a low weight.
Due to its low density, dry pumice can float on water thanks to its numerous pores. Pumice stone can form from all types of magma and therefore develops from basalt as well as other rocks. Depending on its composition, pumice stone can appear white or pale yellow, as well as gray, brown, or almost black. However, the chemical composition of the various types of pumice is usually the same. Pumice stone forms during explosive volcanic eruptions. Its high gas content creates pronounced bubble formation. These gas bubbles foam up the viscous molten rock. As it cools, the sponge-like, porous structure that retains water and air remains.

Components (selection):
Silica strengthens plant cell walls and increases resistance to harmful organisms.
Potassium strengthens water pressure and ensures stable flower stems.
Magnesium is necessary for chlorophyll production and results in beautiful green leaves.
Manganese is responsible for the formation of many enzymes.
Calcium strengthens the vascular tissue and promotes flowering duration and stability.
Calcium builds a strong root system and prevents many common root diseases.

Pumice stone provides better aeration, hardly decomposes, and retains water for a very long time.
