Name: Anthurium waterburyanum
Etymology: The name used in horticulture honors Bette Waterbury, co-founder and former president of the International Aroid Society.
Origin: Colombia.
Habitat/Cultivation: The plant is associated with terrestrial to hemiepiphytic habitats in humid forests of the eastern Andes at an altitude of approximately 1,000–1,800 m. We recommend temperate to warm conditions of about 17–27 °C, high humidity, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: Notable features are the large, firm, distinctly veined leaves, the gloss and color intensity of which increase as they mature. The name has not yet been taxonomically finalized; therefore, we have omitted an unconfirmed author citation. Keep a coarse, airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist and provide a climbing support. Avoid waterlogging.
