Description

Anthurium warocqueanum XS (5.5cm pot)

Name: Anthurium warocqueanum T.Moore

Etymology: The specific epithet warocqueanum honors Arthur Warocqué, a Belgian patron of horticulture.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Habitat/Environment: Epiphytic to hemiepiphytic in moist tropical and montane forests. We cultivate the young plants at approximately 18–26 °C, with very high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, highly aerated substrate evenly moist.

Description and Notes: Anthurium warocqueanum is known for its exceptionally long, narrow, velvety leaves with contrasting venation. In young plants in a 5.5 cm pot, the typical leaf shape only develops as the plant matures. Good air circulation and an oxygen-rich root zone are particularly important.
