Description

Anthurium warocqueanum S (11 cm pot)

Name: Anthurium warocqueanum T.Moore

Etymology: The specific epithet warocqueanum honors Arthur Warocqué, a Belgian patron of horticulture.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic to hemiepiphytic in humid Colombian forests. We grow the young plants at around 18–26 °C, with very high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, very airy substrate consistently slightly moist.

Description and Notes: As it matures, Anthurium warocqueanum develops exceptionally long, narrow, velvety leaves with contrasting venation. In young plants in 11 cm pots, the characteristic leaf shape emerges only gradually. Good air circulation and an oxygen-rich root zone are especially important.
