Name: Anthurium warocqueanum T.Moore
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek words "anthos" (flower) and "oura" (tail). The specific epithet honors the Belgian industrialist and plant enthusiast Arthur Warocqué.
First description: 1878 by Thomas Moore.
Origin/Distribution: Colombia.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic to hemiepiphytic in very humid forests of the Colombian Andes. Suitable conditions include temperatures of about 18–27 °C, high and as stable as possible humidity, bright filtered light, and gentle air circulation.
Description and notes: Known as the "Queen Anthurium," this aroid develops exceptionally long, pendulous, velvety dark green leaves with prominent silvery veining. An open basket or tall pot gives the leaves space. We use a coarse, very airy substrate and keep it consistently slightly moist; cold wetness, strong sun, and abrupt fluctuations in humidity should be avoided.
