Name: Anthurium vittariifolium Engl.
Etymology: The epithet vittariifolium means literally “with leaves like a strap fern” and describes the long, narrow leaf blades.
First described: 1905 by Adolf Engler.
Origin/distribution: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
Location/habitat: Epiphytic in moist tropical forests, predominantly at lower elevations. We recommend warm conditions of approximately 20–29 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: This striking strap-leaved anthurium develops narrow, leathery, pendulous leaves that can grow to over two meters long on mature plants. An open basket or tall pot allows the foliage to hang freely. Keep coarse, highly aerated aroid substrate evenly lightly moist and ensure rapid drainage. Avoid waterlogging.
