Description

Anthurium timplowmanii

Name: Anthurium timplowmanii Croat

Etymology: The species epithet timplowmanii honors the American botanist and ethnobotanist Timothy Charles Plowman.

Origin/Distribution: Peru.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic to lithophytic in warm, humid foothill forests. We cultivate the species in warm to intermediate conditions at around 18–27 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light.

Description and Notes: Anthurium timplowmanii is a more compact species with firm, dark green, glossy leaves and pronounced parallel venation. The leaf structure is reminiscent of a smaller, sturdier form of the so-called strap-leaf anthuriums. We keep it evenly and lightly moist in a coarse, well-draining aroid mix.
