Name: Anthurium rugulosum var. crinitum Sodiro
Etymology: The species epithet rugulosum means “slightly wrinkled” and describes the textured leaf surface.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: Hemiepiphytic in very humid tropical montane and cloud forests of the eastern Andes, at elevations of approximately 1,100–2,800 m. We recommend cool to temperate conditions of around 14–24 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and Notes: The plant develops sturdy, elongated leaves with a distinctly wrinkled surface. It benefits from a pronounced nighttime temperature drop and should not be kept warm at all times. Keep a coarse, moisture-retentive yet very airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist. Avoid summer heat buildup, waterlogging, and prolonged dry spells.
