Name: Anthurium rugulosum Sodiro
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail"). The specific epithet rugulosum means "slightly wrinkled" and refers to the characteristically textured leaf surface.
First description: 1902 by Luis Sodiro.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: In humid Andean and cloud forests at medium to high altitudes. We cultivate the species in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–23 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to semi-shaded, indirect light. We keep the coarse, humus-rich substrate consistently slightly moist and avoid waterlogging.
Description and notes: Anthurium rugulosum has firm, elongated leaves with a clearly textured to finely wrinkled surface. The species particularly benefits from cooler nights and should not be kept too warm permanently. Consistent moisture and good air circulation promote vigorous growth.
