Name: Anthurium regale Linden
Etymology: The Latin specific epithet regale means "royal" and refers to the majestic leaves.
First described: 1866 by Jean Jules Linden.
Origin/Distribution: Peru.
Location/Habitat: The species originates from humid ravines in the eastern Peruvian Andes. We recommend temperate to warm conditions of about 17–27 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, filtered light.
Description and notes: Anthurium regale develops large, velvety, elongated heart-shaped leaves with prominent silvery-white veining. New leaves can emerge reddish to bronze in color and later darken to a deep green. Keep a coarse, humus-rich, and very airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist, but avoid waterlogging. The roots are sensitive to permanently wet, compacted soil and cold drafts.
