Name: Anthurium queremalense, Croat unresolved
Synonyms:
unknown
Etymology:
queremalense = named after the Queremal region, Valle de Cauca, Colombia
Origin: Colombia
Habitat:
the plant grows hemiepiphytically and was found on the western slopes of the Cordillera Occidentale in the Valle Department in humid, warm rainforest.
Notes:
This species was found once by Tom Croat and John Gaskin in Colombia on July 1, 1997, at an altitude of 1350m.
With their large, beautifully colored leaves and velvety texture, they are a real eye-catcher. The young leaves are colored black and form an attractive contrast to the mature leaf.
As the plant ages, the leaves become increasingly intense in color and high in contrast, and the number of increasingly distinct veins also increases.
