Guayusa: Guayusa, also known as “Ilex Guayusa,” is a tree from the Ecuadorian rainforest (see illustration). Its leaves contain the highest caffeine content ever measured in plant leaves. They are prepared as a tea. Guayusa grows mainly in Ecuador but is also found in parts of Peru and Colombia
Origin: Ecuador
Location: epiphytic, tropical, warm and humid at an altitude of approx. 250 m, no further information
Notes: This Anthurium produces beautiful elongated, velvety leaves. When sunlight hits the leaves, they display a breathtaking shimmer. Mature leaves become slightly pleated along the midrib.
With high humidity and plenty of water, Anthurium pallidiflorum can also be grown as a hanging plant. This species should definitely be grown in a hanging basket.
Cultivation: Warm to intermediate conditions at around 18–27 °C, high humidity, and bright, indirect light. The selection looks particularly striking in a hanging pot with coarse, airy aroid substrate.
