Name: Anthurium nigrolaminum Croat & D.Weber ‘Gigi’
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from Greek; nigrolaminum refers to the leaf surface, which becomes very dark. ‘Gigi’ denotes our selected cultivar.
First description: 2021 by Thomas B. Croat and David Weber.
Origin/Distribution: The species is known from northwestern South America.
Location/Habitat: We cultivate ‘Gigi’ in warm to intermediate conditions at approximately 19–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist.
Description and notes: This selection is cultivated for its dark, elegant foliage. As they mature, the elongated leaves develop a particularly attractive dark coloration and distinct leaf texture. Good air circulation and a well-ventilated root zone promote vigorous growth.
