Description

Anthurium michelii S

Name: Anthurium michelii Guillaumin

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail").

Origin/Distribution: Central America and northwestern South America.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic in warm, humid tropical forests. We cultivate the species in warm conditions at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade, indirect light.

Description and Notes: Anthurium michelii develops firm, glossy green leaves with clearly visible, largely parallel venation. We use a coarse, very airy aroid substrate and keep it evenly slightly moist, without leaving the roots constantly wet.
