non Anthurium magnificum, Bull 1865 = Anthurium grande, Bull 1865
Etymology: magnificum = magnificent, excellent

Habitat: The species is considered endemic to altitudes of 800 - 2125 m in the Colombian Andes, where it grows primarily as an epiphyte in a warm, humid climate. In the meantime, however, locations in Panama have also been reported, and there are reports that Anthurium magnificum is spreading as an invasive species in South China.
Notes: Anthurium magnificum LINDEN was found by Braam, a collector for Linden, in the Eastern Andes. Linden showed the foliage plant at the exhibition in Amsterdam in 1865, where it attracted great attention:
Our accompanying plate cannot convey the beauty of these excellent plants, for on the one hand the leaves reach a diameter of 1.5 - 2 feet, and on the other hand the olive-green surface with white markings along the veins possesses that peculiar, beautiful metallic luster that no brush can reproduce.
